Better late than never...
How was your weekend?Ours at Alpha Tomamu was a fit of fantasy thanks to our over-generous Japanese teacher friends springing to put Heather and I up in that mad suite with the jacuzzi and the sauna and the three rooms.

In other hotel rooms that became other people's responsibilities to clean, chaos was unleashed by men who are actually boys and Japanese Mad Scientist teachers.

Yeah. Alpha Troopers at Alpha Tomamu. Lolz.
The boarding was pristine. No question. We signed our waivers, donned our yellow-and-black target jerseys and booked it down between the trees on the brilliantly white and soft "off-piste" areas between the runs at the resort.

It was like choose-your-own-adventure snowboarding in a bouncy castle. As long as you could avoid the trees, you had nothing to fear. I would intentionally take these wild jumps only to land and then cartwheel through the soft snow, giggling like some crazy schoolgirl.
It was Alpha Tomamu that really broke me into the world of Off-Piste. I'd been dabbling in trees until this weekend, but once Mark and Perry showed Lindsay and me that it was the runs between the runs where all of the fun was hiding, I was sold, and I don't know that I'll ever be able to go back.

And, as is, of course, the way with winter in this place, I came home to find this waiting for me outside my back window:
2010-2011 Mountain Days 14 & 15
